STAIRCASE BOOKSHELVES I BUILT-IN

To all book gluttons, bookshelves for storage are often a problem! These bookshelves built into a staircase have shallow shelves to accommodate volumes of paperbacks. In this way, the loss of space in the staircase is minimised. The shelf that extends above the doors on the landing brings the project together elegantly.

Made from oak veneered slatted wood and then waxes with restorer’s beeswax. Solidly affixed to the wall, the shelves do not touch the floor; they seem to be in suspension. The pale colour of the oak and the slightly golden hue of the wax gives lightness to the ensemble.
